Dear ROTA Council members, partners, and supporters,

90 million children around the world lack access to rotavirus vaccine and may needlessly suffer, be hospitalized or even die from this common childhood infection. Yet I feel hopeful.

Since the start of 2017, access has expanded to millions more children, particularly in South Asia where phased rollouts are ongoing in India and Pakistan.

Looking across Asia, many more will soon have access. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal all plan to introduce the vaccine in 2018 or 2019, and other countries have expressed interest.

In Africa, progress also continues: two of the largest countries, Nigeria and DRC, among other nations, also plan to begin introductions in 2018-2019. Read more about recent news and progress below.
