Three country’s concurrent rollouts of rotavirus vaccine are ensuring access for tens of millions of children across a 3,000 kilometer-wide swath of South Asia, from Afghanistan and Pakistan, both of which administer the vaccine in all provinces, to an ongoing rollout in India that now includes ten states. The state of Jharkhand, in eastern India, became the latest to rollout rotavirus vaccines to its children. Indian children are receiving doses of ROTAVAC®, from Bharat Biotech, and ROTASIIL®, from Serum Institute of India.
Bangladesh and Nepal are also expected to introduce rotavirus vaccines in the next year, protecting millions more children in the region against life-threatening disease.
